Position Description:
Assist the Design and Engineering department of Storyteller Overland with automotive related research and design projects and initiatives.
This potentially includes but is not limited to:
Designing and implementing components and or design changes to vehicles.
Taking direction from team on concepts and exploring potential solutions or ways to solve needs
Maintaining and updating files for CNC cut patterns
Maintaining and updating server for 3D parts library
Tracking revisions of parts and their drawing files
Making approved changes to part files and documents when needed
Assisting in documentation of part installations and instructions for production
Assisting in construction and completion of R and D vehicles
Assisting with owners manual documentation
Assisting with vehicle graphics
Assisting with Electrical Drawings and Diagrams
Assisting with Plumbing Drawings and Diagrams
Finding Opportunities to improve cost reduction, user benefits, or areas of improvement to the company and its value as a whole.
Potential for accessory development to vehicle ecosystem
Work with other Designers, Engineers, Testing Personnel, and Technicians to improve our vehicles such that quality is the number one priority when these vehicles are sent to our customers.

Qualities of individual:
Experience in Industrial Design and/or ME, Aerospace Engineering, vehicle automotive design and production.
Production mindset when designing parts for both service and after sales care
Clear and concise communication with team members and vendors
Experience with fasteners as well as general part tolerances based on material or manufacturing methods.
Good with wood tools and build it mentality
Ability to identify and investigate problems and develop clever and simple solutions
Giving and receiving constructive feedback and critique
Attention to detail
Time management skills and knowing when to ask for help
Understanding of timelines/deadlines as well as being budget conscious
Seeing the project through to completion
Learn and grow abilities and skills within a team environment and work with multiple disciplines
Have earned a degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineers/Design Engineers/Draftsmen/Mechanical Designers can be considered.
Skills Required:
High Proficiency with Solidworks and generating sheet metal/weldment parts as well as 3d printed parts.
High Proficiency with AutoCad/Rhinoceros/DraftSight
Mechanical Aptitude for Automotive Related Projects
Well rounded experience with wood and metal fabrication projects
Understanding of control drawings and dimensioning
Nice to have:
Weld, cut, chop, rebuild and fabrication
Automotive passion
Light sketch ability and ability to express ideas quickly
Thermoforming Experience
Injection molding experience
Appreciation for outdoors and our community
Position Details:
Preference for applicants to be located in or around Birmingham Alabama.
No relocation can be provided at this time.
This position would be in the office/plant majority of the time. There may be opportunities for remote work at specific times or occasions based on department needs and timelines
Position may require lifting up to 50lbs not continuously.
Salaried position with benefits/insurance after successful 60 day trial period completion.
