As a Shipping Manager with extensive knowledge in international shipping, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and manage the efficient and timely movement of goods across international borders. You will play a critical role in ensuring that all shipping operations comply with international regulations, standards, and best practices. Your expertise will be essential in coordinating the export and import of goods while maintaining a smooth workflow in the shipping department.

Key Responsibilities:

International Shipping Coordination:

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee the export and import of goods to and from international destinations.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant international shipping regulations, including customs requirements, tariffs, and trade restrictions.

Team Leadership:

• Supervise and lead a team of shipping personnel.
• Provide training, guidance, and support to the team to ensure efficient and accurate operation.

Inventory Management:

• Maintain accurate records of inventory and shipments to track the movement of goods.
• Implement inventory control measures to prevent shortages, overages, and damages.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

• Manage and organize all shipping documentation, including invoices, packing lists, and export/import permits.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of records for audit and compliance purposes.

Quality Control:

• Implement quality control procedures to inspect and verify the condition of goods before shipping.
• Address any issues related to product quality, packaging, or labeling.

Cost Management:

• Monitor shipping costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Optimize carriers to reduce expenses while maintaining service quality.

Communication and Customer Service:

• Maintain clear and effective communication with internal teams, suppliers, and international customers.
• Address customer inquiries, resolve shipping-related issues, and provide exceptional customer service.

Risk Management:

• Identify potential risks and challenges associated with international shipping, such as customs delays, trade disputes, or logistical issues.
• Develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.

Compliance and Regulations:

• Stay up to date with international trade laws and regulations to ensure full compliance.
• Facilitate the smooth passage of goods through customs and other checkpoints.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
• Extensive experience in international shipping, including export and import operations.
• In-depth knowledge of international trade laws, customs regulations, and documentation requirements.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Proficiency in using shipping software and relevant technology.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of various transportation methods, including air, sea, and land.
• Familiarity with Incoterms and other international trade terms.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
