This position can be useful in learning more about utility construction before attaining a more skilled position, such as an operator, directional driller, or locator. A laborer is responsible for the majority of the physical labor performed on the job. Experience in utility construction, laying fiber, pipe, or conduit preferred.
Duties:
-Lift and carry tools and numerous other materials.
-Assist in excavation or backfill activities with the use of a pick and shovel.
-Able to become proficient in the tools of the trade.
-Operate jackhammer, concrete saw, and vacuum excavator.
-Mixing of drilling fluid for horizontal drilling operations.
-Rigging loads and signal operators.
-Assist supervisor or operator in the layout by holding a tap, rod, plumb bob, prism, etc.
-Greasing, fueling, and maintenance of machinery.
-Load and unload trucks.
-Perform general clean up around the job site.
-Various other duties as directed by supervisor.

-Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, which involves sitting, standing, bending, climbing, lifting, working at heights, in confined spaces, and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat, etc.)
Requirements:
-Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid US driver’s license with a clean driving record (no accidents in 3 years, no DUI in 5 years), and pass a drug and background screen.
