T. J. Sheehan Distributing Co. Hiring for Human Resources Manager Liverpool at Cicero, New York Full Time

TJ Sheehan and Tri-Valley Beverage, members of the Sheehan Family Companies, have an excellent full-time opportunity for a Human Resources Manager.

The Human Resources Manager shall oversee the company’s human resources practices in assigned areas to ensure those practices are consistent and support the Companies’ Vision, Mission, and Core Values for assigned Divisions. The ideal candidate will work with all employees to foster a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and teamwork.

This position is fully in-office and will require time split between both locations- 3 days at TJ Sheehan (Liverpool) and 2 days at Tri-Valley Beverage (Westmoreland).

What you’ll be doing:

• Responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy of the divisions assigned.
• Employee Sourcing, Hiring, Retention, and Separation Management
  • Execute recruiting strategies to ensure Division is appropriately staffed
  • Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, screening, interview scheduling, hiring, and onboarding
  • Collaborate with Corporate HR to ensure job descriptions are up-to-date and properly designed to attract the best possible candidates
  • Design and execute strategies to positively impact employee retention
  • Work with managers and employees through the separation process
• Training and Development
  • Responsible for implementing and tracking training and development programs in conjunction with department heads and Corporate HR
  • Promote a culture of learning to encourage adoption of training and development initiatives
  • Ensure the professional development of all employees
• Employee Communication
  • Project and promote professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm in all communications with employees
  • Execute employee communications strategies to ensure employees are informed and engaged with the Division’s Vision, Mission, and Core Values
  • Investigate employees’ issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, concerns or other issues
  • Participate in performance evaluations (as needed), employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
• Compensation, Benefits, and Recognition
  • Administer compensation policy to support a high-performance culture
  • Conduct employee orientations and ongoing employee engagement assessments
• Employee Relations / Industrial Relations
  • Responsible and dedicated to improving employee engagement and experience
  • Update and communicate employment policies following regulatory requirements and corporate directives
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Investigate and conclude employment practice complaints including litigation support
  • Manage Leave of Absence and Workmen’s Compensation claims
• Consulting
  • Provide guidance to all employees in the various areas of employment practices
  • Implement HR audit procedures and develop appropriate strategies to ensure adoption and compliance with SFC policies and applicable labor laws
  • Participate in the construction of the Division’s annual operating budget
• Payroll
  • Maintain payroll information by collating, calculating, and entering data
  • Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions, and saving deductions
  • Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong decision-making ability
• SHRM-CP certified
• 3+ years of Full cycle recruiting for hourly/ salary positions minimum experience
• 3+ years HR Generalist minimum experience
• 3+ years payroll processing minimum experience
• Exceptional judgment
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Demonstrated organizational, supervisory and leadership skills
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle challenges in a professional manner
• Experience with Kronos, Ultipro, or UKG, a plus, or the proven ability to quickly learn a new HRIS system
