Immediate Opening: English Language Arts Teacher at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RITAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a High School English Language Arts Teacher. The ideal candidate recognizes and celebrates the interconnections between the English Language Arts and the arts through a culturally responsive pedagogical framework.TAPAs anti-oppression creative community is enriched by the cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of our neurodiverse families, students, and employees. Demographically, nearly all members of the TAPA student body are people of color, predominantly Latinx, with many students speaking both English and Spanish in their homes. A significant portion of TAPAs student body identifies as members of the LGBTQ+ community. It is an organizational priority for TAPA to hire staff members who have cultural commonalities with our students and families. At TAPA, ELA is taught through arts-integrated instruction practicesthat utilize the green-standard Paths to College and Career curriculum. The High School English Language Arts Teacher teaches five classes, each with approximately 18 students. They will also work directly with a smaller group of High School students to lead an Advisory. Advisory provides an opportunity for social-emotional learning and support. The Advisor/Advisee relationship ensures that every student has a school-based advocate and a first-line connection to TAPA. TAPA prepares students to successfully meet or exceed Rhode Islands graduation requirements and perform at (or above) grade level on all state and local assessments. TAPA meets each students individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback while providing clear academic, social, and artistic expectations. At its core, TAPA is a student-centered caring community that fosters leadership, intellect, self-confidence, and responsibility. Inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity frameworks are core components of every course.
