The Tax & Licensing Manager plays a critical role in helping the City maintain financial sustainability by educating those doing business in the City and managing the City’s tax audit team, licensing technicians and revenue collection system. Interacts with and serves as a liaison to the business community that collects and remits the City sales and use taxes, other transaction taxes and excise taxes. Demonstrates expertise interpreting tax codes and regulations of the City and State, a knowledge of court cases relating to the administration and enforcement of tax or license provisions. Position acts as a technical advisor to the Finance Director and other municipal officials on matters related to tax collection, compliance, licensing and auditing. This position is responsible for policy recommendations related to these areas.

Interprets and administers complex tax codes, state tax regulations, tax and licensing guidance:
Represents the City at professional and public organizations such as the Colorado Municipal League and Colorado Tax Audit Coalition
Performs other duties as assigned and required.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required. 4 years of municipal accounting or finance experience; Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience. Municipal experience is preferred; prior tax audit experience is highly desired.
Certifications and/or Licensures: None required.
Required Driver’s License: Valid Colorado driver’s license and a clear or acceptable MVR.

Work is performed in a standard office environment, requiring sitting for extended periods of time, and occasional light lifting (up to 20 lbs.). Job requires visual and physical capabilities to perform data entry, filing, and to work on computers and associated equipment for prolonged periods of time (4-6 hours daily).
