Why We Need This Position
To maintain its position as an industry leader, Teague must develop a clear and cohesive point of view about a range of future experiences and evolve our design teams to meet those needs. We need someone at the helm who not only has a deep understanding of design, industry trends, and business strategy, but a visionary leader who can provide expert guidance and thought leadership for our teams and clients. Harnessing Teague’s creative talent and steering it so that it continues to anticipate and meet our clients’ needs in the years ahead is the key to exceeding their expectations. That’s where you come in.
Who We’re Looking For
A creative and enthusiastic expert and seasoned leader adept at inspiring and managing creative teams. On a strategic level, you understand the “big picture” and can project into the future by promoting innovation, experience and growth. You have a clear and compelling point of view that will guide you as you work with senior leadership to shape a path forward for Teague. You will participate in the studio’s strategic planning and make recommendations for changes to the creative function to meet market changes and competitive threats. It’s up to you to direct the creative function so that all aspects—culture, team, tools, processes, expectations, and work style—support the Teague brand and Teague strategic goals.
You come from a background of designing user experiences for software and services. Teague’s motto of “thinking through making” resonates with you, because you know that sketching and simulating user experiences is the best way to test hypotheses, understand the user perspective, and persuade stakeholders. You believe that design is research and research is design, and your experience as being someone that has designed, deployed, and executed design research proves this.
On a tactical level, you’ll partner with the Business Development & Program Management teams to pursue and respond to new client and project opportunities. You’ll lead and support pitching and shaping new opportunities with a strong POV, help writing proposals and estimate projects. In addition, you’ll use your strategic thinking skills to drive conversations with new and existing clients to support their design, product and brand strategy with project teams and executive level client stakeholders. Finally, you have a good understanding of team skillsets and can bring the right team to programs. Managing clients, addressing ongoing challenges, pivoting as needed, maintaining high-quality standards, and adhering to schedules and budgets are all part of the job.
On a management level, you will manage individual designers. You will provide mentorship and guidance through communicating feedback from peers and your own observation, translation of your own experiences, and seeking out project staffing opportunities that match your reports’ growth path. You will be responsible for assessing, managing, and advocating for your reports’ performance in light of Teague’s performance expectations.
Personality-wise, you’re a dynamic presenter with engaging charisma and you’re endowed with the diplomatic and interpersonal skills of a head of state, adept at working effectively with a diverse range of co-workers and clients to produce superlative results; and possess a nimble, solution-oriented mindset. If you’ve got an enthusiastic interest for design, a strategic mind, sensational interpersonal skills, and thrill at the prospect of working in a dynamic, creative environment, have we got a job for you.
