Reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Vice President, Development & External Relations will build both reputation and the necessary funds to fuel Team PA’s ambitious vision, raising the profile of Team PA across Pennsylvania, as well as on the national and international stage.
We work closely with the leaders of business and industry, government, academia, nonprofits, and organized labor and convene CSCs to solve Pennsylvania’s biggest challenges. These same stakeholders in turn provide philanthropic support to sustain our work. Following an aspirational strategic plan, we now embark on our next chapter as an organization, and we seek a leader that can navigate this complex dynamic with creativity and integrity.
This role requires:
The following focus areas will be key for this role in the coming year:
Public Relations, Marketing & Communications
Team PA used to be a behind-the-scenes organization and it has always been hard to tell the ‘Team PA story.’ Historically, Team PA took on many different activities and initiatives that would change with each gubernatorial administration, and the organization does not have a parallel organization in another state. Our ambitious and aspirational strategic plan brought about an equally bold and bright new brand identity, and we are much more clear about who we are and how we work. That said, the work we do is still complicated to describe, and we are still an unknown entity to most of our key stakeholders. The person in this role will be responsible for both creating and implementing a strategy for activating our new brand, taking it to new heights through media, events, and external communications.
Board Governance & Engagement
Team PA’s 49-person Board of Directors serves as our most important ambassadors. They represent the diverse nature of the Commonwealth in terms of demographics, industry, geography, and organizational size, and as leaders of business and industry, government, organized labor, academia, and nonprofit organizations, they generously commit their time to serve the Commonwealth. We support their leadership through a highly professional approach to board engagement, ensuring attention to detail at every step.
Development
Team PA is not a traditional organization, and we are not looking for a traditional development professional. While some organizations are able to leverage membership dues, events, and sponsorships as fundraising mechanisms, due to the unique nature of our work and our organization, we rely on philanthropic support toward a shared vision for Pennsylvania’s economic health. Success in this role depends on a creative strategy grounded in integrity and collaboration. It also depends on achieving results, building on a positive revenue growth trajectory. For several years, Team PA raised less than $500,000. Since our strategic plan, we expanded our reach and our work, and we are set to more than triple our historical fundraising in less than three years. As we continue to expand our organizational reach and impact, we will continue to expand our fundraising efforts to meet the aspirations of our mission, focusing on strategy and relationships to meet our development goals.
People & Budget Management
The concept of a team is not just in our organization’s name – it’s absolutely essential for anyone to thrive at Team PA. Each of our core values and organizational commitments are core to the role of the Senior Vice President, Development & External Relations regarding people and budget management.

About Team Pennsylvania
Our Mission: Working together for all Pennsylvanians in public-private partnership, Team Pennsylvania accelerates the commonwealth’s long-term economic future.
Who We Are: A dynamic, non-profit organization, Team Pennsylvania is a statewide entity co-chaired by the Governor and a private sector leader. We are the state’s trusted neutral broker and convener, and we couple collaboration with strategic investment of public and private funds to accelerate Pennsylvania’s economy.
We convene Cross-Sector Collaboratives (CSCs) on the most transformative economic opportunities in Pennsylvania: agriculture, energy, and manufacturing, with plans to launch future collaborations in life sciences/biotech and innovation & technology. Each CSC includes the commonwealth’s top policymakers and business leaders, as well as leaders of labor, academia, and nonprofits.
Together, we tackle the issues that no one sector can address alone to position Pennsylvania as a leader among states and a competitor among nations, maximizing impact for the commonwealth while creating equity and economic opportunity for all Pennsylvanians.
Our Core Values are how we show up when we do this important work.
