PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION/JOB SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Sr. Software Engineer is to design, create, implement, and support a wide variety of credit union software solutions related to the daily operation of the organization, third party software/service integrations, and internally developed software. This role uses technologies within several areas of discipline to create seamless software solutions, perform complex data analysis, provide reports on assigned business metrics, and continuously refine business processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Designs, creates, tests, documents, and maintains internally developed software solutions related to the efficient operation of the credit union using established technologies and systems.
• Performs data analysis on large, often complex data sets resulting in insights relevant to business operations.
• Works directly with credit union staff to identify business needs and process improvements related to the efficient operation of the Credit Union.
• Determines software solutions derived from technical specifications and business requirements. Delegates specifics tasks to Software Engineer to complete.
• Assists in providing technical leadership and mentorship to the team and promote an open, learning culture.
• Responsible for attending required compliance and regulatory training.
• Maintains current knowledge of and compliance with all Credit Union policies and procedures, including compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and all federal laws and regulations as set forth by the NCUA and other regulatory agencies.
• Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
• Proficient understanding of Microsoft.NET, C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MSSQL.
• Competent with Agile development methodologies and software engineering disciplines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Ability to execute on multiple projects/tasks within required timelines and expectations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate complex technical and programming concepts effectively with all staff levels.
• Ability to devise a specific coding implementation plan when given a general description of required inputs and expected outputs or results.
• Must be able to maintain integrity and ethical behavior in all actions and conversations with employees, vendors and regarding credit union members and their account(s); complies with privacy act directives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, IT, Computer Science, or (2) completion of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree (e.g. Information Technology Certifications in lieu of a degree).
• Three years to five years of experience developing and supporting business applications within a financial institution.
• Experience with the Episys core platform and its technologies preferred.
