Overview:

The Field Trainer position develops Field Operations employees either in a classroom/training center or in the field environment. The primary focus of the position is to assist employees to bolster knowledge, from the beginner level through experienced utility construction foremen, to advance individual understanding, competency and problem-solving skills in the areas of Field Operations, Safety, Ethics, Systems and Company Dynamics.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the Field Trainer position may include all or some of the following:

• Trains employees to operate diesel and gasoline powered equipment, including but not limited to: backhoe, excavator, trencher, directional bore/drill, digger derrick and pole/bucket trucks;
• Trains employees to locate buried wire, cabling and other utilities;
• Trains employees on installing underground telecommunications cabling, including setting up ped and hand holes;
• Trains employees on the safe and proper use of flagging
• Trains employees on property and worksite restoration
• Trains employees on inspecting equipment, reviewing their work quality and job specifications;
• Trains employees on jetting, shooting a pneumatic gopher and operation of compressors;
• Trains employees on OSHA standards in classroom and field settings;
• Conducts work site walk-throughs and addresses issues or concerns;
• Ensures appropriate DOT documentation;
• Monitors and adheres to all safety processes and procedures;
• Assists and/or provides recommendations for managers in creating individual employee development plans
• Performs the duties of field personnel as needed;
• Maintains and submits required reporting;
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Previous experience in a similar position with a focus on crew leadership;
• Previous field experience with installation, repair and maintenance of underground utilities is required;
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive working environment in high stress situations;
• Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to give descriptive and respectful direction;
• Must be able to present in a classroom and field settings in a positive, encouraging manner;
• Ability to work with individuals at all levels throughout the organization, skills and knowledge;
• OSHA 500 certification is preferred
• Basic computer skills required – Google application experience preferred
• Valid Class A CDL drivers license required with a good driving record required
• Travel is required up to a 100% of the time
• Work in an outdoor setting in a variety of weather conditions and settings (30%-100%)
