SPANISH TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION

Your Role

We are currently seeking a full-time to 3/4 full-time Spanish teacher position. Each Spanish class has 5-15 students, ranging from Kindergarten to 8th grade. You will lead 4-5 different classes a day.

• Cultivate a learning atmosphere centered on intellectual inquiry and student engagement
• Foster classroom community through proactive social-emotional learning and restorative justice practices
• Develop and implement innovative and decolonized curriculum
• Communicate peacefully with co-lead, students, families, and colleagues
• Engage in self-reflection and professional development through goal-setting, training, and feedback loops with colleagues.

Qualifications

• A passion for working with young people and a commitment to always honor them first as humans, not kids
• An openness to professional development and continuous learning
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A pleasant approach to work and a sense of humor
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and proficient in English
• Able to speak to parents and write report cards in English
• A minimum of 2 years teaching experience
• Proficient technology skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Use Spanish to interact with and provide instruction to K-8th grade students to help children become proficient in Spanish.
• Develop and maintain a classroom atmosphere centered on intellectual inquiry and student engagement.
• Foster classroom community through inclusionary, compassionate, and supportive practices.
• Uphold professional standards of personal presentation, punctuality, professional courtesy, and discretion.
• Share knowledge of key Spanish holidays, such as Cinco de Mayo and other holidays.
• Engage in self-reflection and professional development through goal-setting professional development opportunities and ongoing dialog with division directors.
