Summary: The Graphic Designer leads expression of the School’s visual identity and has demonstrated command of print and digital design, helping to ensure visual consistency across all communication platforms. Serving all School constituencies, the Graphic Designer produces materials for Admission, Alumni and Development, Athletics, Performing Arts, Head of School, and other offices and departments across campus in alignment with institutional goals. This individual is also responsible for art direction, design, and print production of the alumni magazine, published four times a year, including the management of external vendors.

Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of design and production, from concept through delivery, for School-wide projects and ensure timely completion.
Be the point person for all print production and mailing with regard to projects executed by the Communications Office and maintain strong partnerships with selected vendors.
Collaborate with the Multimedia Specialist to help ensure consistency in how the visual brand is expressed, and provide assets for campus-wide digital signage as needed.
Collaborate with campus partners to envision design needs for the academic year, and develop a process to evaluate and execute these projects – taking into account other demands and the overall objectives of the department and of the School.
Create graphic assets and templates for social media channels for cross-departmental use.
Maintain and evolve the brand manual, including conducting training sessions with key stakeholders across the institution and providing resources for execution.
Support the Athletics Department in maintenance of an online and on-campus School store, helping to ensure proper branded assets for design and production.
Hire and manage freelance designers, photographers, illustrators, and print vendors, for in-house design projects, when necessary.
Provide assets to campus partners and external vendors as needed; ensure proper access and filing of current and archival versions of projects.
Art-direct photo and video shoots with external partners.
Retouch photographs when necessary, or work with a trusted vendor to do so.
Request printing estimates from and negotiate with vendors.
Attend press-checks when needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and 10 years equivalent work experience.
Have a thorough understanding of creative possibilities, expression and budget realities.
Photography skills not required, but a plus.
Leadership abilities to foster understanding and learning amongst team members as applied to visual communications.
Ability to balance creative with interpersonal skills.
Maintain knowledge on current design trends.
Very strong customer service orientation.
Professional allegiance to the field of visual communications.
