The Lodge at Bryce Canyon, LLC Hiring for Lodge Operations Manager Job at Portland, OR Full Time

Full-time year round position in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. Must be willing to relocate to be considered. Housing included plus benefits package!

The Operations Manager is responsible for supporting the General Manager by managing, maintaining, and improving operational effectiveness of multiple departments within the property.

Operational Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the daily operation of each business unit; Ensures all operations are adequately staffed, stocked, and open for business during business hours.
• Coordinates and executes large purchases within operations departments; Participates in the vendor selection process.
• Ensures proper inventory operations; Controls costs and minimizes waste, performs inventory counts and runs inventory reports.
• Implements and enforces Department Standards.
• Identifies and works with management to resolve departmental problems and potential problems.
• Works extra shifts and hours throughout the department as required; Covers subordinate duties as needed.
• Act as the company liaison with NPS in the absence of the General manager.

Financial Responsibilities:

• Assists with ensuring the profitability of all operations and the smooth and efficient operation of all departments; Ensures each operation complies with financial guidelines and meets or exceeds all financial and operational goals.
• Assists with preparation of operating budgets and capital improvement schedules as required.
• Reviews financial statements and data to improve profitability; assists with control of operational budgets and inventories; compiles and calculates monthly inventories; resolves all cash shortages, discrepancies or other monetary issues relating to operational departments.
• Ensures all accounting and security procedures are followed; Submits AP/AR, Payroll, and Transaction reports as required.
• Recommends and implements strategies to maximize revenues and control costs.
• Ensures managers are utilizing labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs.
• Responsible for maintaining a high degree of customer service and maintaining high customer satisfaction scores; Measures quality of customer service through customer surveys and comment cards and makes suggestions on customer service improvement strategies.
• Responds to customer complaints in a professional manner.

Safety & Compliance Responsibilities:

• Know and enforces all company Programs and policies; Responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance to all Environmental, Health, Compliance, and Safety Management Programs and policies.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance to all local, state and Federal regulations concerning all facilities, operations and activities.
• Responsible for maintaining high scores on public health sanitation and other compliance inspections.
• Facilitates the Environmental Management System (EMS) compliances as required.
• Responsible for proper safety procedures and facilitation of all risk management programs to promote proper staff health, safety and welfare.
• Set the standard in all departments for environmental stewardship.
• Accompany government and other compliance auditors during on-property inspections as requested.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Ensures all team members are properly oriented and adequately trained in department standards, security procedures, department operations, and safe work methods; Develops orientation and trainings as needed.
• Mentors and coaches staff members on developing and improving skills.
• Responsible for coordinating departmental procedures and outlining goals and procedures with all department managers and supervisors.
• Enforces department standards, policies, and team member expectations; Performs progressive discipline, coaches, and retrains department employees as required.
• Completes detailed and timely performance evaluations.
• Follows and enforces company policies including uniform and grooming standards.
• Verifies payroll hours and resolves payroll issues for department personal as required.
• Communicate relevant information to J-1 employees before, during, and after their employment.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Act as General Manager in his/her absence when necessary.
• Responsible for additional Manager on Duty shifts and responsibilities.
• Maintain strict confidentiality in all Accounting and Human Resources matters.
• Assist in other departments as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality management or related field and 5 years of progressive experience in hospitality.
• Prior supervisory or management work experience required.
• Strong background in the Food and Beverage Industry.
• Strong background in the Lodging Industry.

Physical Requirements To Perform Job Duties:

• Must be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate information.
• Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven, and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.
• Ability to climb stairs occasionally.
• Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, and squat, repetitively.
• Ability to grasp, finger, twist, turn, and reach down, forward, and overhead frequently.
• Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time.

• Ability to operate a computer.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds daily.
• Able to visually inspect departments for compliance.
• The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions: Adverse conditions may include extreme heat and/or cold, wind, humidity, and sometimes inclement weather.
• Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle as required.
