We are seeking an HR Consultant experienced in delivering exceptional service in multi-dimensional organizations. The successful candidate will be a dynamic, progressive, and experienced HR professional who possesses proven human resources skills and business acumen. The candidate will support academic and clinical programs by helping to identify and fulfill talent needs, talent integration and employee development to meet the overall HR strategy in support of the strategic plan for the College of Dentistry. Through partnerships, this position will help educate, advice and support employees and managers on issues involving but not limited to employee relations, performance management, coaching, on-boarding, new hire orientation, organizational development and change management. Serves as an employee champion and communicates needs proactively with key stakeholders while having the ability to translate mid-range plans into operating results.
This position is embedded within the College Dentistry and reports to the Office of Human Resources. This position will primarily serve the academic units working on faculty recruitment, research staff recruitment, compensation, coaching and mentoring of faculty managers on all aspects of human resources, working with Compensation, Employee and Labor Relations, and other central units to effective support managers in the units.
About the College of Dentistry
The Ohio State University College of Dentistry is the fourth largest public dental school in the United States and it is the only public dental school in Ohio. The college is divided into ten divisions with all major ADA-recognized dental specialties represented. The College has approximately 600 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs.
HR Consultant Opportunity
The HR Consultant is responsible for the efficient delivery of HR services to designated leaders, faculty and staff, for providing guidance on HR policies and processes, and monitoring, evaluating and reporting progress on key metrics. The HR Consultant supports the HR Business Partner by providing human resources support services to maximum the effectiveness of HR processes that promote the organizations strategic objectives. Serves as a role model for staff, management and faculty across the department and business, consistently representing the standards of service excellence.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Human Resources or related field. PHR/SPHR or other professional certification preferred. Minimum of 4+ years in Human Resources. Understanding of Ohio and Federal employment laws, reducing risk and ensuring regulatory compliance. Demonstrated ability to build relationship and establish ‘quick’ rapport with all levels of the organization. Strong consultative style with proven experience supporting multiple areas. Strong mind-set for continuous improvement and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Master’s degree; experience in health care and/or clinical environment and/or working in a public sector or large complex organization experience; prior experience with workforce planning, employee relations, diversity and inclusion, and performance management; demonstrated success collaborating with centers of expertise within a shared service model.
Additional Information:
The posting range for this position is $48,000 to $90,300 annually.
