The Department of Psychological and Brain
Sciences at The University of Iowa invites applications for instructional-track faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer beginning
August 2024. These positions are renewable in one-year increments for the first three years, and renewable thereafter in three-year
increments. Opportunities for advancement to associate professor of instruction (and, subsequently, professor of instruction) are available
after the first six years, renewable in 5-year increments. As faculty members, Lecturers participate in departmental governance with voting
rights. Review of applications begins October 2 and will continue until the positions are filled. The positions begin August 2024. The
University of Iowa is a leading public university located in Iowa City, a UNESCO City of
Literature with a high quality of life. These faculty positions continue an extended period of departmental investment, highlighted
most prominently by the recent completion of a new Psychological and Brain Sciences Building.
Applications are sought from candidates
with outstanding undergraduate teaching skills. We are primarily interested in individuals who can teach courses in clinical psychology or
behavioral neuroscience, but we will also consider candidates with expertise in social, developmental, or cognitive psychology. Candidates
must have experience teaching at the post-secondary level and must able to teach elementary psychology and a basic undergraduate course on
research methods and data analysis. In addition to teaching introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses, instructional-track faculty
are expected to mentor undergraduate students, develop new curricula and experiential learning opportunities, and engage in other
professional activities and service. Applicants must have a PhD in psychology or a related field in-hand by August 21, 2024 to be qualified
for the position.
Evaluation of each candidate’s qualifications will be based on educational and work experiences as described
in the letter of interest, accomplishments as addressed in the CV and teaching statement, evidence of effective teaching (e.g., student
evaluations, example syllabi, handbooks), and information provided by professional references.
