Tipmont Wintek seeks a Telecommunications Engineer Technician with GIS experience

Job duties that intrigue you include:

• Creating databases, maps and / or graphs to combine with geographically referenced data — working with GIS software / programs to relate different types of data, such as socioeconomic, demographic, administrative or political boundaries, land use, land cover, environmental, infrastructure and transportation networks.
• Maintaining strong data integrity in databases, maps and graphs.
• Meeting with users to define data needs, project requirements, required outputs or applications to develop.
• Conducting research to locate and obtain existing databases.
• Researching, developing, designing and evaluating communication systems and equipment.
• Studying communication systems and equipment, such as present and projected volume of communication, effectiveness and adequacy of system, and estimated equipment costs.
• Performing engineering studies to obtain data on new equipment and systems developments in the communication field and adaptability of equipment to existing systems.
• Responding to internal requests for fiber-optic connectivity information during business hours and after-hours during storm or outage events.
• Collaborating with Electrical Engineering staff to provide connectivity for devices in the field.

Required Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
• Experience utilizing and managing multiple mapping software and programs
• Experience in Microsoft Office suite

Preferred Skills:

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in GIS or other technical field
• Knowledge of fiber-optics and broadband service
• Experience in the following software:
  • ESRI ArcMap
  • ESRI ArcGIS PRO
  • 3-GIS Fiber Management Software
