SUMMARY: The People Operations Manager plays an integral role in designing and executing elements of the employee experience at all stages of the employee life cycle at Tree House (from recruitment to onboarding to development to transitioning out).
The People Operations Manager provides support across the administrative functions, with additional support to the Associate Director, Technology & Administration. This role requires high levels of organization, multitasking, creativity, and independence. The position is energized by the impact of ensuring people s needs are constantly met and is focused on delivering timely and thorough service and outstanding follow up.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment & Onboarding
Manage, iterate, and help improve the recruitment operations from hiring kick off to offer acceptance and onboarding. Partner with hiring managers to coordinate and conduct interviews and build diverse pools of candidates. Facilitate and equitable hiring process.
Manage, iterate and help improve our onboarding process for all staff. Work with hiring managers to build onboarding schedules and coordinate all related meetings; and establishing onboarding buddy partnerships and monitoring engagement in the program.
Manage our benefits program in partnership with our benefits brokers and payroll system ADP. Conduct benefit surveys and analyses and support our annual enrollment.
Employee Development & Engagement
Support individualized professional development plans and work with Associate Director and supervisors to build meaningful growth trajectories for all staff.
Implement staff-wide skills and trainings, and professional growth programs for staff.
Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training including anti-harassment training and others as is required by state and federal laws.
Support organizational efforts toward employee engagement and build relationships with staff to help determine their individual needs. Coordinate and help build staff surveys to measure engagement and hep in decision making pertaining to staff.
Support leadership efforts towards diversity, equity and inclusion.
People Operations
Support and help implement staff policies and provide regular reminders for key policies as needed. Support the Associate Director in researching, improving, and building new policies based on our values and mission.
Support compensation analyses and organizational efforts toward building more equitable pay structures. Support education of staff regarding equitable compensation practices.
Conduct exit interviews and draw conclusions for executive leadership; and project manage the employee off-boarding process.
Manage, iterate and improve feedback and performance evaluation processes for all staff.
Payroll or HR-related tasks (including payroll processing, employee tax forms, benefits administration, etc.)
Maintain digital and hard copy employment files in compliance with state and federal regulations and according to organizational needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
5 years of progressive human resources experience required, with at least one year in a human resources manager or people manager function required
Experience in a startup or nonprofit environment a plus
Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communications
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to lead with empathy, sensitivity, and a high degree of emotional intelligence
Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines, strong planning and project management skills.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and utmost confidentiality
HR certification is a plus
Familiarity with ADP WorkforceNow or related software

Work is performed in an office within an animal shelter.
