Position Title: Director of Compensation and Benefits

Reporting to: VP of Human Resources

Job summary: The Director of Compensation and Benefits is responsible for the development and administration of compensation and benefit programs. He/she works with the VP of Human Resources to ensure that our human resources policies and initiatives are effective, efficient, and aligned to the overall business objectives.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and recommends benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements, trends, and developments in benefits offered in the marketplace
• Develop and administer human resources plans and procedures that relate to company benefits
• Identifies benefit options by studying programs and obtaining advice from consultants
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing laws and regulations and updates to legal requirements
• Plan, organize, and control the compensation and benefits program for the HR department
• Maintain personnel records with confidentiality
• Contribute to the development of HR department goals, objectives, and systems
• Participate in in the development and improvement of company-wide benefits programs
• Develop, revise, and recommend benefit initiatives and procedures
• Manages benefits staff by coaching, counseling, and mentoring employees
• Resolves employee questions and problems by interpreting benefit policies and procedures
• Maintain and revise the company’s handbook on policies and procedures
• Supports the administration and adherence of performance evaluations, recruitment, HR compliance, policies & procedures, etc
• Provide management direction and counseling
• Contribute to the overall strategic and expansion plan of the organization

Job requirements:

• College degree required/ preferably in HR related field
• 5+ years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles
• 3+ years of experience in a HR Advisor role
• Experience in HRIS software
• Understanding of city/state policies and procedures
• Possess excellent decision-making, strategic thinking, leadership, interpersonal, and ethical conduct skills
• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
• Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
