Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Labor Relations, you will provide leadership, guidance, interpretation and training to managers and supervisors on UC Policy and contract interpretation. You will serve as senior resource for labor relations and contract interpretation. In this role, you will actively participate in local and system-wide bargaining, including drafting/reviewing/modifying proposals, soliciting feedback from stakeholders and clients on proposed changes; communicate changes to managers and supervisors and serve as a primary resource in change implementation.
As our Labor Relations Manager, you will provide guidance and assistance to managers and supervisors regarding interpretation, compliance and enforcement of collective bargaining agreements and HEERA provisions and will assist them with grievance and arbitration procedures; make recommendations regarding the resolution of grievances when appropriate. You will also assist in the readiness for arbitration, including documentation and witness preparation. You will conduct periodic training sessions for managers who oversee and supervise bargaining unit employees, facilitate on-going communication and working relationships with employee organization representatives and routinely liaise with union representatives and endeavor to resolve issues/concerns at the lowest level possible.
