Maintain accurate and current personnel information in University personnel, payroll and timekeeping systems following established University policies and Union Agreements. Assist in the management of workers’ compensation claims and monitoring employee leaves of absence. Additionally, incumbent interprets University policies and procedures and provides guidance to client departments on related personnel and payroll matters. Additionally, incumbent assists HR Area Manager in employee and labor relations matter as needed. Act as a certified fingerprint roller in order to conduct final candidate background checks.

Qualifications for Position
Previous work experience and working knowledge as an HR generalist.
Working knowledge of human resources practices, policies, regulations and procedures regarding staffing, employee and labor relations, training and performance management.
Ability to understand and interpret federal and state laws and guidelines related to leaves of absence, workers compensation and labor law.
Demonstrated ability to analyze policies and procedures and determine compliance of existing procedures and guidelines.
Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices, or procedures to define the problem or objective. Identify concerns and formulate logical and objective conclusions, recommending alternatives toward resolution.
General knowledge of wage and hour law and general accounting principles and practices.
Proficient knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office and business software.
Ability to perform duties independently and with a great degree of accuracy and attention to detail, meeting established deadlines, working effectively under continual interruptions and heavy workload.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, department representatives and management.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
Working knowledge of the University financial systems and on-line payroll systems in processing payroll/personnel transactions.
Knowledge of database querying to be able to prepare complex reports from different data sources.
Ability to convey complex information and explain policies and procedures.
Ability to obtain certification as fingerprint roller.
Ability to perform complex arithmetic calculations.
Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct routine business correspondence.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, as dictated by operational needs.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
