President & Chief Executive Officer
UMRC & Porter Hills Foundation

Location: Grand Rapids or Chelsea, MI
The United Methodist Retirement Communities – Porter Hills Foundation (the “Foundation”), supports the faith-based mission and guiding beliefs of Brio Living Services, a state-wide organization with 24 service lines and locations providing care and services to approximately 8,000 older adults annually.
In partnership with the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation (Foundation) Board of Directors, the President & CEO is an ambassador and advocate for the Foundation’s mission. The President & CEO is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission through relevant initiatives, strategic planning and philanthropy, as well as for meeting financial objectives and oversight of the operations of the Foundation.
The President & CEO is a thought leader who can guide the organization through continued change and growth to new heights. As the “face” of the organization, the President & CEO is an active member of the community and works collaboratively with the strategic leadership team of Brio Living Services.
The Qualified Candidate
The Foundation seeks a leader focused on collaboration and relationships. The successful candidate will bring proven leadership experience with prior success in cultivating positive working relationships with Foundation team members and board, as well as donors/funders. The selected candidate will be collaborative and participative.
Specific requirements include:
Education and Experience
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Five or more years of progressively responsible executive experience in a role with a proven track record in building relationships with stakeholders, partners, staff and donors
- Experience working in a foundation, economic development, public or private sector setting with proven experience in responding to the needs of various stakeholders
- Experience working with a volunteer board
- Experience raising funds, including successfully closing major-gift solicitations with individual high-capacity donors
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field
- A connection or affinity for older adults, their quality of life and supportive causes
- CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) designation
- 21/64 Advisor designation
- Non-profit sector experience
