The Account Receivable Clerk (Cash Poster) is responsible for processing and posting of all patient and insurance payments. Ensure proper posting by performing efficient and accurate data entry of electronic/manual payments, denials, adjustments, and credit balances received for medical services into the Practice Management databases in accordance with policies and procedures established by the department. Other responsibilities include the processing of the daily mail and corresponding received.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Post and reconcile payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts
- Work Credit Balance Queues and Refund Requests for refund posting and AP processing
- Research unidentified payments and/or recoupments for posting
- Opens and sort daily mail and forward to Lockbox for processing
- Process daily correspondence files from Lockbox
- Process return mail for undeliverable Billing statements and Refund checks
- Process assigned Billing Packets for posting Clinic payments
- Assist patients calls with questions regarding insurance and or account balances
- Answer correspondence and or telephone inquiries from insurance companies
- Represents the Company in a professional manner by following all Company policies and procedures
- Uses, protects, and discloses patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with the staff, clinics, ancillary departments, and management
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- One year of experience of health care experience in medical payment processing
- Knowledge of manual and electronic payment posting
- Knowledge of EOB’s Copays/ coinsurance/ deductibles/denial codes, and insurances allowable
