Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor-Finance and Administration (AVC), the Director of Talent provides leadership and management for human resource functions throughout Development and Alumni Relations. Provides strategy and analytical expertise to the Vice Chancellor and senior leadership. Develops, measures and oversees implementation of human resource elements of the DEVAR Strategic Plan. Interprets, advises and applies university and campus policies and procedures to ensure division compliance and minimize risk. Working closely with campus Employee and Labor Relations, examines high risk issues, providing recommendations to prevent, mitigate and respond to complex employment issues. Leads the development, implementation and refinement of DEVAR internal human resources procedures to ensure consistency with university and campus principles, policies and procedures, meeting the needs of diverse DEVAR units and programs. Oversees all division human resources programs and functions, including but not limited to talent management, performance management and pay and career ladder programs. Provides guidance on division business plan development, annual performance reviews, performance management and staff recognition programs. Incorporates diversity, equity and inclusion into all DEVAR HR activities and programs. Oversees the DEVAR professional development program. Serves as the primary liaison between DEVAR and Campus Human Resources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in related area, with at least five years’ experience in human resource management.
Progressively increasing responsibility and experience in providing and managing human resources in a large complex multi-functional organization at a strategic level. Experience researching, interpreting, and applying human resources practices, policies and procedures.
Leadership experience understanding the importance of cultivating relationships with a high degree of professionalism and integrity, to accomplish goals with measurable results and empower others to do the same. Strategic planning and development and managing and executing short- and long-term goals and objectives.
Analytical and conceptual skills for identifying solution-oriented resolution of complex problems, with experience identifying key issues, evaluating options and developing strategies that meet business needs.
Experience with variety of computer programs and systems, including Microsoft Office and ERM systems.
Experience recruiting, training, evaluating, motivating, and coaching employees of various backgrounds and identities. Building a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion amongst team members. Designing and implementing diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) :
Skilled in the application of state and federal laws and regulations related to employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, professional development and other human resource functions.
Interpersonal communication skills to communicate clearly and professionally, and to develop and sustain collegial working relationships; skills to convey information and ideas, influence outcomes, diplomatically handle difficult situations and work effectively and sensitively with diverse populations and situations. Written communication skills to compose thoughtful, clear, well-organized analytical reports, guidelines, procedures, disciplinary actions and correspondence.
