Position Description:
The College of Visual Arts and Design at The University of North Texas (UNT) is accepting applications for a one-year appointment, full-time faculty position as an open-rank Lecturer (lecturer, senior lecturer, principal lecturer) in Fashion Design.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate students. Teaching responsibilities will include fashion design studios and the span of the fashion design curriculum. The college’s standard teaching workload for lecturer
faculty is eight courses per academic year. Additional responsibilities include mentoring undergraduate students, service to the program, college, university, and the profession, professional development, and continued enhancement of the design department.
The University of North Texas (UNT)’s Department of Design is dedicated to fostering the success of its diverse population of faculty and students. It offers a B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Design. Minimum Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related area with five years or more of fashion industry experience.
• Evidence of university-level teaching experience.
• Demonstrated evidence of a strong commitment to developing, strengthening, and enhancing diverse, equitable, and inclusive experiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
• An MFA/master’s degree in Fashion Design or related area.
• Ability to teach all levels (upper-division and lower-division) of undergraduate courses.
• Fluency in Adobe Creative Cloud software for digital product visualizations and presentation.
• Proficient in fashion illustration techniques, including digital technologies.
• Fluency in digital product development systems, such as Gerber AccuMark, or other digital patternmaking software systems. Experience with 3D visualizations, fitting, and model development is also a benefit.
• Fluency in design business systems and product development strategies, including product workflows and systems tracking (such as a Product Lifecycle Management System or similar software platform).
