Marketing and Sales Assistant
The University of Notre Dame Press seeks a creative, motivated self-starter with an interest in
marketing or publishing. The Marketing and Sales Assistant will support the press in
implementing innovative strategies to meet annual revenue goals and to promote the press’s
vibrant list of books.
Working closely with the Assistant Director, the Marketing and Sales Assistant will specialize in
the promotion of deep backlist titles, including generating new metadata (book descriptions,
keywords, excerpts, etc.), crafting social media and email campaigns, and tracking the impact of
efforts. This entry-level position provides a unique opportunity to develop comprehensive
marketing skills with the support of an experienced and innovative team.
This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, three-year limited term position.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
Generate new metadata for deep backlist titles, including book descriptions,
keywords, excerpts, etc.
Maintain and update internal book database to ensure accuracy of book records
With the Marketing and Sales Specialist, craft social media and email campaigns
to promote deep backlist titles and related new books
Coordinates with authors to develop online resources supporting instructors and
book club organizers
With the Assistant Director, track sales and usage impact of marketing
campaigns and recommend titles for additional promotion or new editions based
on results
Assist with the creation of book descriptions and metadata for new books
Represents the press at local events and on-campus academic conferences
Additional duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills
Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion
initiatives
Strong technical skills with Microsoft Office or Google Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior internship or work experience in marketing or publishing
Social media experience
Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design software
