What does this role do?
This position is required to be on call for emergencies after regular class hours, on weekends, and holidays.
This position does not qualify for remote work.
What qualities will make you successful in Campus Safety and University Operations?
Minimum Qualifications:
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of computer applications. 3 years of progressive work experience in radiation safety with some experience as a radiation safety officer for research and/or use of radioactive materials. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders. Understanding of research activities and systems. Experience interfacing with and facilitating visits from third party regulators, e.g., NRC.
Bachelor’s degree (4 years) in Health Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Safety, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Recognized by specialist board such as the American Academy Board of Health Physics (ABHP) as a Certified Health Physicist (CHP).
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of 40 hour Radiation Safety Officer training course, DOT certification for handling, transportation and shipping of radioactive materials.
