Department Summary
The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) – Research Integrity unit is a team of professionals who proactively manage compliance and identify risks associated with research, including export controls, animal welfare, human subjects research, and conflict of interest disclosures.
The OVPRI advances world-class research, scholarship, and innovation at the University of Oregon, a top-tier public research institution. The OVPRI oversees sponsored research, research integrity, technology transfer, research communications, and research development at the University of Oregon (UO), as well as numerous high-profile research centers and institutes and core research facilities. OVPRI provides opportunities for faculty across the university to collaborate on research efforts that are inherently interdisciplinary and of significant societal importance. Position Summary
The Associate Director of Conflicts of Interest and Export Controls reports directly to the AVP of Research Integrity. The Associate Director works in partnership with senior leadership to proactively develop systems to process and monitor conflict of interest disclosures and export control compliance. While possessing substantial experience in conflict of interest disclosures and export controls, the Associate Director leads high-profile initiatives and serves as a thought leader in supporting the work of team members who receive and process disclosures relating to conflicts and exports. The Associate Director works independently and as a team lead to process sensitive matters in a timely manner, navigate and advise on faculty concerns, and exercise judgment in the development of processes that will have broad implications for ethics, integrity, and compliance promoting national security in the research environment.
