The Senior HR Generalist will support the full employment lifecycle of Texas McCombs staff members through daily operations and implementation of strategic priorities. This position will report to the HR Director and contribute to an environment of continuous learning through employee engagement initiatives, manager training and development as well as serving as a trusted advisor to staff members.

Responsibilities
Provide consultation, coaching and partnership to Texas McCombs managers, departments, and leadership on HR operations, including performance management, staffing needs, position description development, and classification reviews in accordance with University policies and procedure, Texas McCombs practices as well as federal and state regulations.
Manage hiring and on-boarding processes as well as separating and off-boarding processes for Texas McCombs staff members. Regularly meet with new hires to ensure compliance with federal regulations and University onboarding policies as well as conduct exit interviews and manage applicable leave payouts for separating staff members.
Manage approval processes and a high volume of electronic business processes in Workday that encompass the full staff lifecycle. Review timesheets and coordinate extended leave in accordance with McCombs practices and University policy as well as state regulations.
Partner with Texas McCombs stakeholders to develop and implement trainings and engagement activities that align with the Texas McCombs strategic plan, foster diversity, inclusion and belonging, and leads to an environment of continuous learning.
Communicate and administer University policies, regularly respond to inquiries from employees and managers regarding all aspects of employment, and provide referrals to appropriate campus resources.
Support the Texas McCombs Annual Staff Awards recognition event.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of progressive Human Resources responsibilities
Excellent knowledge of human resources laws, regulations, and best practices
Demonstrated success as a customer service-oriented team player
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to both create strong rapport with, and successfully advise, staff members at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated ability to work independently to manage projects, improve processes and lead projects to completion.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and applications in the Microsoft Office suite
Experience working with confidential information and providing support to customers using discretion.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
SHRM or PHR certification.
Experience with human resources in a university environment or similarly matrixed organization.
Experience with Workday and comfort learning new technologies.
Salary Range
$60,000 – $70,000
Working Conditions
Standard office conditions and repetitive use of a keyboard
This position is Austin, TX-based and is eligible for occasional telework and flexible scheduling

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
