The University of Washington’s William E. Boeing Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics (A&A) invites applications for a
full-time Assistant Teaching Professor position. Assistant Teaching Professors are non-tenured faculty members who are hired on multi-year
appointments with a 9-month service period (September 16 through June 15) that may allow for additional opportunities to teach during the
summer. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2022. The initial appointment duration and compensation will be commensurate with the
applicant’s qualifications.
The expected teaching responsibility portfolio for the Assistant Teaching Professor position is
variable based upon assigned combination of lecture courses, laboratory courses, service and curriculum management. Opportunities exist for
coordinating and delivering project-based learning curricula. Educational and manufacturing activities are supported by a full-time
instructional machine shop supervisor and a full-time instructional lab manager. A&A offers a highly collaborative culture, with a range
of teaching and curriculum-development opportunities in undergraduate and master’s level courses.
UW faculty engage in
teaching, research, and service. While Assistant Teaching Professor at UW are primarily evaluated with regard to their teaching and service,
the successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in the wide-range of research activities in the department and collaboratively
across the College of Engineering and the three UW campuses.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant faculty conducting
multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary ground-breaking research, instruction, and collaboration in controls and autonomous systems, fluids,
