JOB SUMMARY:
The Web Operations Manager is responsible for the technical and operational aspects of the Office of Human Resources (OHR) website, including the redesign, coordination and support of departmental initiatives, and ensures the reliability and accuracy of website content. In addition, this position is responsible for leading initiatives in order to gain website process efficiencies and improvements.
This position will work with subject matter experts and communications in the OHR functional areas in the development, design, and maintenance of new and transitioning OHR websites, MyUW portal human resource content, and the Working@UW website, as well as video and interactive web applications. It requires the ability to work with technical and functional experts in a cooperative manner involving extensive collaboration and team work.
This position serves as the specialist/consultant for the technology and data-services function of OHR and operates under limited supervision with general priorities established by the OHR Chief of Staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Responsibilities:
– 15% Plans, implements, manages, monitors, and upgrades the unit’s websites including intranets
– 20% Ensures website functionality and maintains existing website operation including
implementing the content management system (CMS), making content updates, conducting content audits, and updating computer programming languages which may include HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
– 10% Responds and troubleshoots website issues
– 10% Ensures website quality, efficiency, and compliance with accessibility, security, privacy, and other university requirements and laws
– 15% Strategizes ways to improve the user experience of the website and manages information architecture strategy
– 5% Monitors web traffic and website performance, and assesses performance to optimize the website and to identify, prevent, and resolve issues
– 5% Collaborates with others to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the unit’s standards
Unique Responsibilities:
– 5% Serve as a subject matter expert and unit liaison to other departments to design graphics, style standards, layouts, and other brand assets
– 5% Hire, supervise, and train student web developers to support the website operation for the Office of Human Resources
– 5% Supports the technical implementation of communications initiatives, including digital content delivery via mass email and multimedia channels
– 5% Provides strategic guidance and coordination for the design, implementation, distribution, and analysis of internal surveys

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
– Professional experience in web design
– Working knowledge of current web presentation languages
– Demonstrated commitment to considering diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility when developing or applying web design practices
– Experience and success at working in collaborative teams and work environments, and self-motivated and able to work and make decisions independently.
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to maintain effective relationships with managers, staff, and campus partners
– Strong work samples that demonstrate web design capabilities
Preferred:
– A minimum of two years of demonstrated experience in web design and project management
– Demonstrated experience in website design using current versions of web authoring and publishing tools
– Experience working in a Content Management System (CMS)
– Experience managing and customizing a WordPress environment
– Experience with graphic design, preferably with Adobe products such as Photoshop and Illustrator
– Experience creating content and designs that meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) AA standards
– Familiarity with Human Resource System reporting and portals, including web infrastructure, server environment, site development, and troubleshooting
– Understanding of search engine optimization methodologies
– Experience with Google Analytics
– Experience supervising student staff

WORK TYPE:
This position has the option to be either partially or fully remote. If partially remote, some work will be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
APPOINTMENT TYPE, DURATION:
This is a renewable appointment.
SALARY:
Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
