POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Software Developer position develops, modifies, tests, implements, and maintains USAC software applications, programs, and scripts. The individual works directly with and provides support for users of USAC and third-party applications. The individual also works with stakeholders to define new requirements and system specifications. The individual works with other USAC Developers and the Software Development Manager to collaborate on projects or get or provide feedback or assistance.
This is a full-time, exempt position and will be paid on a salary basis. The position may be based in the USAC Central Office located in Reno, Nevada (working remotely or in-office), or at a home office elsewhere in the U.S.A. A final decision on location will be made during the interview process.
This position reports to the Software Development Manager.
POSITION TYPE & EXPECTED WORKING HOURS
This is an exempt position and will be paid on a salary basis. Schedule is a minimum of 40 hours per week. The normal working hours will be agreed upon with the manager and may fluctuate or additional hours may be required, possibly including evenings and weekends.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and improve USAC software systems
Test and review changes to USAC software systems and code
Provide progress updates and estimates for completion
Provide application and user support for USAC software applications
Document USAC systems and processes
Data entry and maintenance
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Work with stakeholders and the Software Development Manager to define and document project requirements.
Evaluate code and provide suggestions for making code easier to understand and maintain.
Train users on usage of USAC software systems
Mentor, assist, and review code for other developers

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar discipline
The Senior Software Developer position requires 10+ years of experience in data-driven business software development. That experience should include all items in the Required Technical Knowledge section and most items in Preferred Technical Knowledge section.

SQL Server and relational database design
SQL, TSQL, and advanced database querying

Microsoft Office programming, particularly related to Microsoft Access and VBA
Automated testing patterns
SSRS or similar database reporting systems
Desktop and server hardware and operating systems, particularly Windows
Computer networking, especially as it relates to multi-tiered applications
Data analysis and interpretation
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The duties of this job are mainly performed in an office or home office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, and at times stand, and walk. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Frequent travel is expected as part of this position.
