Overview

Job Summary / Job Purpose

This role is responsible for providing a variety of routine patient care activities and support services including general clerical and receptionist duties under the supervision of a nurse. Assists nurse, physicians, patients, and families as needed.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Maintains charts with appropriate patient identifiers, to include consent forms, face sheets, patient’s labels and falls contract.
• Must be able to log into multiple application s with knowledge on each system to be able to obtain data needed for patient care, and throughput.
• Prioritize all patient calls notifying nursing personal as requests are received for intervention
• Coordinates the giving and receiving of information to and from physicians, patients, visitors, health care personnel, public and interdepartmental.
• Verbal communications are courteous, monitoring tone and voice inflection, maintain confidentiality and inspire confidence as in Standards of excellence.
• Keeps accurate list of patients and responsible caregivers at desk each shift. Notifies nursing staff of needs for patient and care plans prior to discharge (when applicable).
• Order routine equipment, supplies, and forms according to established stock levels at established order times
• Can correctly admit, transfer and discharge a patient in the ADT system
• Coordinates the transport of patients off the unit to other departments by utilizing Teletracking to entering accurate information in system.
• Demonstrates ability to organize assignments, and set appropriate priorities by completing tasks in timely manner
• Maintains a safe environment for staff, patients, family and visitors as evidenced by adherence to policies and procedures regarding safety. Reports safety concern to unit manager
• Maintains confidentiality of information in the department according to Kentucky One Health Policies
• Demonstrates a commitment to a high level of professional and ethical standards in his/her daily activities, consistent with the Kentucky One Code of Conduct standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)

Experience:

• Experience in healthcare setting (preferred)

Certification:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)

State Registered Nurse Aide (SRNA) by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (preferred)
