US Foods seeks an experienced labor relations professional who will be jointly responsible for the development and execution of an effective labor relations strategy for the organization. The Director, Labor Relations reports to the Senior Director, Labor Relations and will provide labor relations support, including negotiating collective bargaining agreements.
New Ways of Work: The Director, Labor Relations position has been segmented as Remote Anywhere meaning the work is completed 100% remote anywhere in the United States except Hawaii or United States Territories. Travel is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Labor Relations activities, programs, and strategy implementation to meet identified goals consistent with Company objectives.
Chief spokesman for contract negotiations, including representing and operationally defining labor policies that are market competitive and aligned with Company strategy.
Drive excellence in negotiations preparedness, including negotiation of and execution of labor contracts.
Assist internal and/or external counsel in the preparation of labor arbitration cases and matters before the National Labor Relations Board.
Keep current on trends and best practices in the distribution industry and incorporate those that are complimentary to the Company.
Advise business leaders on labor relations matters.
Assess and develop (with client partners) training needs specific to labor and employee relations.
Other duties as assigned by manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Training:
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required, Master’s and/or law degree preferred.
Related Experience/Requirements:
Minimum of 8 years of labor relations experience with relative industry experience in retail, wholesale, manufacturing, consumer products, or distribution required.
Experience in the development and execution of labor relations strategy required.
Hands-on experience in negotiating collective bargaining agreements required.
Ability to work with and influence executives and frontline positions.
Travel required – 50 to 75%

Influence/Communication Skills: Strong presence and open communication skills, effective at all levels of the organization and with external vendors; inviting and effectively responsive to questions and concerns, building credibility and authority; effectively translates business strategies and objectives into priorities and clearly articulates desired outcomes, tactics and behaviors.
Problem Solving Skills: Highly analytical with strong problem-solving skills, including identifying and working with team members to avoid or remove roadblocks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Builds strong cross-functional relationships quickly to align on actions and resources required and to mutually accomplish company goals
Adaptability: A leader who can navigate the organization through complex and diverse situations; comfortable with ambiguity
Coaching/Mentoring: Develops and inspires team member mindsets and capabilities
Empathetic Leadership: Understands, gauges and adapts to the perspectives of varied stakeholders.

The following information is provided in accordance with the Colorado Pay Equity Act. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In Colorado, the expected compensation for this role is between $111,800 and $160,000. This role is also eligible for annual incentive plan bonus and long-term incentive program.
