As a dedicated Life Insurance Survivorship & Claims Executive, you will be accountable for the Enterprise Survivor Relationship Team (ESRT) and the strategic direction, operations, and member experiences related to the Enterprise Loss of a Loved One experience across all USAA lines of business. Responsible for Claims and ESRT fulfillment turnaround time, member satisfaction, service level targets, and rate of fraudulent claims detection. Oversees all Life Co. policy holder claims, ensuring proper, accurate, efficient, and compliant fulfillment.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week in our San Antonio home office.

The Opportunity
What you’ll do:

• Provides senior executive leadership and oversight of Life Co.’s claims, fraud, anti-money laundering and survivor relations, to include overall strategy, management, and achievement of results.
• Responsible for overseeing the anti-money laundering (AML) function.  Negotiates with Enterprise Risk and Compliance and Legal executive partners to influence AML standards, policies, and procedures applying to Life Company.
• Responsible for ensuring seamless claims processing and fulfillment by minimizing turn-around time and maximizing operational efficiency through the introduction of automation, process improvements, and/or technology.
• Develops and executes fraud detection strategies and implements sophisticated techniques to protect Life Co.’s financial integrity and policyholders’ interests.
• Works closely with data and analytics teams to identify fraud patterns and devise proactive measures to mitigate risk.
• Shapes strategies and policies to provide compassionate and efficient support to survivor members/ beneficiaries with an empathetic leadership approach.
• Manages SRT center operations efficiently to optimize costs while maintaining appropriate service-levels that deliver value to members and beneficiaries.
• Accountable for coordinating the achievement of key aspects of Life performance scorecard to claims fulfillment turnaround time, member satisfaction and service level targets for ESRT, and rate of fraudulent claims detection.
• Partners with Life Company Counsel to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations. Responsible for resolving all audit and compliance issues.
• Builds and oversees a team of dedicated claims, fraud, and survivor relations professionals through recruiting, developing, retaining, coaching, guiding, performance management and managerial activities.
• Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

• Bachelor’s degree, OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in a life insurance claims role, managing and overseeing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment OR 10+ years of progressive active-duty senior military officer experience with one or more branches of the military, developing business strategies, managing and overseeing major initiatives and delivering results within a complex matrix environment to support business strategies.
• 8+ years of people leadership experience in building, managing and/or developing high-performing teams.
• Demonstrated experience implementing risk management principles, to include fraud detection and prevention.
• Proven background leading teams who must manage sensitive, potentially emotional situations with empathy, understanding, and discretion.
• Compassionate leader who trains staff to deal with members and beneficiaries with empathy.
• Influential communicator who can effectively negotiate and drive accountability and sense of urgency appropriately to ensure the success of the function.
• Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations applicable to life insurance, health insurance and annuity claims.
• Strong financial acumen and must be an analytical, data-driven problem solver.
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and leverage influence, leadership, and cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategy.
• Proven leadership and ability to influence at all levels of management.

What we offer:
Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $207,600.00 – $373,700.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Long Term Incentive Plan: Cash payment for Executive level roles only, representing a cash payment which is both time and performance based.
