This position is remote within Canada – 100%

Our client is looking for a resourceful person who will be responsible for end-to-end database design, development, testing, review, and implementation of code into existing databases for all levels of the Software Development Lifecycle.

What you will be doing:

• Analyze business, IT and data requirements, design the best possible data model and ETL processes, and implement data solutions (OLTP & OLAP) accordingly.
• Develop and maintain extract, transform and load (ETL) jobs within an evolving enterprise data warehouse
• Develop Advanced T-SQL such as temporal tables, PIVOTs, recursive table expressions, dynamic SQL as well as high complexity, fast performing SELECT queries, T-SQL procedures, functions, triggers, views, jobs, scripts to support data operations and DW users.
• Optimize SQL statements executed by end users/ETL code as required; Test and troubleshoot ETL job functionality, validate database objects and structures through use of SQL and other means
• Collaborates with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools
• Assist DBAs in managing indexes, statistics, query plans, alerts, database activity and overall performance activity
• Create and monitor fault tolerant database jobs across hundreds of integration points
• Identify root causes of data integrity issues and ability to eliminate them

What you should have:

• 4 years of experience in Database development and engineering
• Extensive knowledge of MSSQL Server, MongoDB, SOAP/XML, REST/JSON, Databricks
• Expert understanding of ELT and ETL and hands-on experience with SSIS, SSRS (development and some admin experience)
• Hands on Experience with data modeling (OLTP and OLAP) using Erwin, Visio or similar tools
• Experience in all aspects of SDLC
• Experience with version control software (ideally bitbucket)
• Working knowledge of AWS Cloud (RDS) and new database technologies on Azure and AWS including streaming analytics, data factory, airflow, etc
• Python, R, Scala, Spark experience are an asset
• Familiarity with ad-hoc file transfer solution/s, such as FTP, HTTP
• Experience with modeling Power BI data modeling, designing dashboards is desirable
• Financial services experience is an asset
