Responsibilities
The Director of Student Affairs for Student
Conduct and Title IX is responsible for the resolution of all student conduct matters, academic and non-academic in nature, arising from
incidents that occur on and off University property, and involve individual students or an entire student organization. This includes
ensuring departments with internal conduct process (i.e., Housing, Campus Recreation) follow a set of processes that align with Student
Conduct policy and procedures and remain compliant with the student’s right to due process. The Director will conduct an annual review
and modification of the Student Code of Conduct. This role is responsible for advancing and assessing efforts in alignment with divisional
strategic priorities, serving as the hearing officers/hearing panel advisor for all cases, excluding Title IX, where the potential sanction
could be suspension or expulsion.
As the University’s Title IX Coordinator, the Director ensures the development and
implementation of best practices in Title IX case management, investigation, policy and campus trainings, keeping abreast of current state
and federal laws, regulations, and trends in Title IX compliance. The Director receives Title IX complaints and all reports of sexual
misconduct, interpersonal violence, and gender-based discrimination, Title IX or otherwise, coordinates support services and interim
measures, and ensures timely investigations, and resolutions to Title IX cases. The Director also makes recommendations for University
policies, procedures, protocols and practices to ensure compliance with Title IX, VAWA, Clery Act, NCAA, Title VI and other applicable state
and federal laws and regulations. Ensures consistency of University policies, procedures, protocols, and Student Life practices in all
University printed and electronic resources, including assist with periodic updates of web content. It is expected that this individual will
be a University subject matter expert for matters related to sexual misconduct, interpersonal violence, and gender-based discrimination.
This role is responsible for ensuring appropriate training, awareness, and prevention programming, including online, in-person, or passive
for the University community.
Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Director provides
strategic leadership and supervision of office employees: (1) Compliance Officer/Investigator, (1) Conduct Coordinator. The Director is
expected to maintain effective and collaborative relationships with relevant members of the University and greater community to include
Public Safety, Residence Life and Housing, Academic Affairs, Office of General Counsel, Human Resources and state and local police. They
should participate in Divisional priority committees and task forces such as the Alcohol and Other Drug Task Force, Behavioral Incident Team
and be accessible, visible and present for large campus-wide programs and community development activities as needed and seek involvement
and engagement in campus life. Serve as a member of the Student Affairs On-Call rotation. The Director will ensure full utilization and
maintenance of Maxient system, tracking, and reports.
Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a
specified field and five (5) years of related work experience in a related field is required. Terminal degree and/or professional licensure,
certification, and/or designation may be required in some areas.

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free
Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics
Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family
Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s
Compensation.
