JOB OVERVIEW:

Vector is seeking a Trainer who can develop training content covering our clients telecom/satellite product lines, technologies, and other third-party products. Typical deliverables include creating and/or updating of existing training course material, lab guide, an E-Learning training course, an instructor or student guide and other supporting material. This job is remote now due to the Pandemic. When the Pandemic is over the job will be in the office in the Herndon, VA area. Once the pandemic has passed and recovery of our nation has occurred; there will be 30% travel in the US to the Training Centers.

About fifty-five percent (55%) of the work will entail course development; thirty percent (30%) of the work will entail training delivery to employees i.e., via Train-The-Trainer, and customers worldwide and, fifteen percent (15%) will involve assembly, configuration, and maintenance of training center’s lab equipment located at different locations worldwide.

The specialist will need to drive internal stakeholders such as technical publication team, customer success (trainers), other departments delivering trainers or training content, to ensure he/she can meet his/her goals. The specialist will take part in the design of new training services for our customers and will be key in the implementation of those new training services (creation of new content, update training equipment, train-the-trainer).

The specialist executes their job responsibilities to produce high level of customer satisfaction in accordance with corporate and department goals.

A successful candidate must demonstrate strong training content design, development and delivery skills and shall be able to deliver trainings in a proper manner, language, and pace.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Creation of high-quality training material:

• Develop technical training courses for existing and new STE iDirect products / technologies / third-party products (satellite hubs, remote terminals, , applications, etc.).
• Actively drive a continuous improvement spirit, together with the rest of the team, including regular review of training materials, follow up on instructor training delivery quality and further setup of review and improvement actions.
• Create/extend an internal network with other groups withing STE iDirect, such as Engineering, Product Verification, Customer Success/TAC/SE team and Technical Publications to learn about new product features to enhance the training materials.
• Publish training documentation using FrameMaker or equivalent software tools.
• Create graphics for lecture/lab presentations and E-Learning/virtual training modules.
• Delivery of training:

Effectively deliver the product knowledge to both internal and external customers through in-class training, onsite training, and via online training.

• Deliver Train-The-Trainer training to internal and/or external trainers for existing, new, or updated courses.
• Maintenance of training lab(s):
• Perform, together with other colleagues, the company maintenance plan for the training center’s lab equipment located at different locations worldwide.
• Support the team with ordering, assembly, configuration, and maintenance of training equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited college, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Education, or closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in technical education.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience/working knowledge in Satellite communications or Telecommunications field, preferably in developing course materials.
• Experience/working knowledge in TCP/IP internetworking, routing, switching, QoS, VLAN configuration and troubleshooting of IP networks.
• Understanding of RF/ Satellite communications, with knowledge of e.g., DVB-S2/X, TDMA, SCPC.
• Proven training development and delivery skills

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Advanced verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Capability to deliver technical training in other languages then English is a plus
• Proven technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Team player, natural collaborator
• Ability to innovate, think out-of-the-box
• Flexible: Willingness/ability to sometimes work outside of business hours to ensure communication with other colleagues / customers can happen + is willing and able to work in another time zone than his/her direct reporting line, if required.
• Ability to multitask and effectively manage time
• Advanced level on Microsoft Office suite
• Instructional Design experience and Web-Based Course Development experience a plus.
• Experience with a content authoring tool is a plus
• Practical experience with creation and configuration of Virtual Machines is a plus.
• Exposure to a Learning Management Systems (LMS) and/or Content Management System (CMS) is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year

COVID-19 considerations:
The job is remote now due to COVID but once COVID is over people will be heading back into the office to work. Maybe next year in 2022.
