Responsibilities and Duties
Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel-powered vehicles and other industrial equipment including class 8 tractors, tanker trailers, chassis, pneumatic trailers, container handlers, compressors, boilers, and forklifts.
Ensure repairs and inspections comply with DOT requirements.
Perform BIT, PM, and VIKTP inspections.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment in break-down situations.
Track parts usage so parts can be restocked properly and timely.
Follow instructions on work orders and complete within Standard Repair Times (SRTs).
Complete required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
Performs service calls for truck/equip repair in the field as needed.
Determine parts necessary for projects and submit request for purchasing.
Assist in maintaining a neat and organized parts room to ensure easy access and accountability of parts while ensuring a safe work area is maintained.
Maintains a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company/OSHA Standards.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience working in a Maintenance shop operation.
Understanding of DOT 49 CFR Part 393.
Excellent understanding and high level of skills in diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, including tractors, trailers, pumps, boilers, compressors, wash rack equipment, and pick-up trucks.
Competent mechanic, able to accomplish basic diesel engine and transmission repairs and maintenance Competence in the following areas: electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, brakes, bearings, air conditioning, suspension systems, steering systems, tire repair and mounting, and welding.
Accurate and detail oriented. Does not overlook things and make errors. Able to perform repair and maintenance functions correctly and reliably that do not have to be repeated or that break down later.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and use required & recommended Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) keeping in mind the safety of yourself and those around you. Manage risk so that incidents are prevented.
Work effectively with flexible and varying work schedules.
Properly read/interpret work orders and safety paraphernalia in English.
Work independently and as a team; able to settle disagreements and manage conflict in a professional manner.
Possess a valid Class C Drivers license and a driving record without an excessive number of accidents and/or convictions for moving violations. Must be insurable to operate company vehicles. Class A Drivers license preferred.
Maintain certifications to operate equipment, ie yard tractors and forklifts.
Welding certification a plus.
Must have own tools sufficient to perform mechanics duties.
Physical Requirements
Able to lift and carry heavy hoses, fittings, and other equipment weighing up to 55 pounds. Able to crawl underneath and climb on top of trailers. Able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary to perform job functions.
Environmental Factors
Able to work outdoors and tolerate extreme or adverse weather conditions.
Must be comfortable working around hazardous chemicals.
This position requires climbing up to 25 ft high onto trailers, railcars, containers, or structures. Must not be afraid of heights.
Must be able to wear necessary PPE in order to complete job functions
