The Richmond City and Henrico Health Districts (RHHD) are sister districts with shared executive leadership that operate as local arms of the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). Serving the City of Richmond and adjacent Henrico County, our mission is to expose and address the root causes of health disparities, protect the health of all people by preventing the spread of disease, and build health equity by partnering with communities and working collaboratively across sectors.
.
We are seeking a Public Health Physician Supervisor to provide direct patient care and overall support to RHHD’s medical clinics and staff to ensure quality standards of care and promote uniformity in clinic processes between the two districts. Specifically, reporting to the Deputy Director of the Richmond City and Henrico Health Districts, this Physician will have primary responsibilities for the direct patient care and the oversight of patient care and documenting appropriate and evidence-based medical care and follow up as indicated for the RHHD’s adult and pediatric TB and refugee patients. Patient care may also be provided at RHHD’s sexually transmitted infection (STI) and family planning (FP) clinics and/or the Resource Centers that are based in housing communities. This Physician will also support RHHD programs in chart review for state and federally mandated public health services such as for CMS Nursing Home/Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) screenings.
.
The Public Health Physician Supervisor directly supervises a Lead Nurse Practitioner Senior and, as a collaborating physician, works together with the Lead Nurse Practitioner Senior to support RHHD’s Nurse Practitioners and provide clinical guidance and direction as needed to RHHD’s Public Health Nurses for patient follow up and care coordination. This role will also serve on the Clinical Leadership Team as availability permits to provide input on RHHD clinical policies and direction. The Public Health Physician Supervisor may be required to assist state and local government, generally, in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor or local authority.
.
The selected incumbent will primarily work out of our West Henrico Health Clinic (8600 Dixon Powers Drive), but will be expected to travel and work in off-site locations throughout the region as often as needed. Mileage reimbursement is available for any work-related travel. RHHD’s typical work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm with evening and weekend hours required on occasion when emergency operations dictate.
The selected incumbent will work an average of 28 hours a week, not to exceed 1500 hours a year, with flexible scheduling options available. Telework for non-direct patient care may be an option.
