POSITION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Operations Manageroversees all manufacturing activities within the company including scheduling, CNC programming, fixture development, tooling, production and inspection of precision metal parts. Maintains overall manufacturing objectives and initiatives. Confronts and solves performance/operational issues to improve development efficiency. Leads and develops the manufacturing team. Oversees a robust project management process and delivery timelines to keep projects on schedule. The ideal candidate will have experience in 5-axis milling and live tool turning, be familiar with ISO and AS 9100 standards, and be willing to work in a team environment to solve manufacturing challenges.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Oversees and manages a team of professional machinists and operators; planning, directing, and coordinating all departments to achieve the Company goals and objectives.
· Deliver results for KPIs in Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale.
· Maintaining employee morale by creating a safe and efficient working environment.
· Develop the skills of all employees to maximize the overall operational efficiencies.
· Organize and direct workflow to satisfy all production requirements in the most cost-efficient manner.
· Plan and maintain production schedules.
· Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
· Establish a culture of team-work with excellent lines of communication between all departments.
· Manage all production activity and staff including CNC machining, assembly and collaborates with Engineering when needed.
· Maintains product and Company reputation by complying with government regulations
· Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer’s instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
· Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness
· Identify, along with input from machinists, opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials, and parts
· Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing
· Specify and check raw material
· Build production and prototype parts to specifications
· Order and maintain tooling
· Oversee and coordinate a robust Preventative Maintenance program
· Develop and maintain operations and efficiency improvements
· Positive attitude, strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or manufacturing technology preferred
· Ten (10) years of experience in metal machining environment
· High level leadership and decision-making skills
· Ability to motivate, influence, and educate employees
· Ability to easily interact within all levels of the organization
· Working knowledge of manufacturing / mechanical processes and equipment
· Working knowledge of CNC programming
· Hands-on experience in CNC machining, turning, and milling (including set-ups)
· Repetitive production experience
· Prototype machining experience (iterative machining with real-time engineering collaboration)
· Experience leading highly skilled machinists (leading journeyman / tool makers)
· Experience in a small manufacturing company and ideally with a larger company to implement processes driven approach to operations
· Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
· Experience with ISO-9001 and AS-9100 certifications
· United States Citizenship required by contract
