EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The Fleet Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and directing personnel and resources for the purchase, leasing, modification, service/repair, and disposal of vehicles and equipment, fuel management, vehicle pools, and vehicle-related services for Washington County. Duties may include: Plans, organizes, controls, integrates, and evaluates the work of the Fleet Services Division; ensures operations are in compliance with federal, state, and local statutes, rules, and regulations; documents and communicates policies to County staff; conducts long-range fleet forecasting; develops and maintains strategic plan, goals, and objectives.Oversees the Fleet Division operating and capital replacement budgets; oversees implementation by assigned staff; oversees the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; administers the approved budget; and reviews and analyzes budgetary control information and approves expenditures.Directs the development of goals and objectives through the division work plan; assigns work activities, projects, and programs; monitors workflow and performance indicators; implements policies and procedures; and reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures.Manages and develops customer/vendor relationships; establishes a culture of collaboration and partnership towards achieving countywide vehicle and equipment-related goals; fosters a culture of customer service and continuous improvement.Assists in creating a positive and supportive work environment; enforces a safe workplace; establishes a culture of teamwork and communication; creates a workplace that promotes the organizational values of workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion and actively promotes an environment respectful of living and working in a multicultural society.Works in conjunction with union leadership and Human Resources for Union related issues. Understands, adheres to, and administers the Collective Bargaining Agreement, responds to grievances, and fosters positive work relationships with the union leadership.Provides leadership and direct supervision to staff; cultivates staff to be service-oriented through selection, training, and day-to-day management practices to support the County’s mission; participates in programs and activities that promote workplace diversity; maintains operations that reflect ethical conduct; works with employees to correct performance deficiencies, and implements progressive discipline.Directs and oversees the staff’s utilization of the fleet management information system; maintains optimal use of the fleet management information system through effective, economically sound practices and the application of current technology.For additional details and requirements for this position please view the classification via the following link: Fleet Manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Master’s degree in business administration, automotive technology, transportation management, logistics, supply chain management or related field; AND Three (3) years of work experience in a full-service fleet acquisition, maintenance, and repair program with responsibility for preparing and monitoring budgets, which includes two (2) years of work experience in a supervisory role.ORBachelor’s degree in business administration, automotive technology, transportation management, logistics, supply chain management or related field; AND Five (5) years of work experience in a full-service fleet acquisition, maintenance, and repair program with responsibility for preparing and monitoring budgets, which includes two (2) years of work experience in a supervisory role.ORAssociates degree in business administration, automotive technology, transportation management, logistics, supply chain management or related field; AND Seven (7) years of work experience in a full-service fleet acquisition, maintenance, and repair program with responsibility for preparing and monitoring budgets, which includes two (2) years of work experience in a supervisory role.Additional Licenses, Certificates, Physical Abilities, and Specialty Requirements: Possession of a driver’s license valid in the State of Oregon and an acceptable driving record per Washington County policy.Please be clear and specific in the applicable sections of the employment application about how your background is relevant.
