Left Hand Water District is currently seeking the right candidate for a Water Distribution Technician I-IV position. The ideal candidate would have a background in water distribution system operation, utility construction, and heavy equipment operation. However, we are willing to train the right candidate. The position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to the operation and maintenance of a water distribution system, water system construction and repair, and heavy equipment operation.
Excellent benefits & pay. The hiring range is $20.00- $35.92/hr., depending on qualifications. This position requires being able to respond to after-hours callouts and emergencies in a timely manner. Normal working hours are 8-430 pm, Monday-Friday. Candidates must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, holidays and be on-call on a rotating basis. Insurance
Premiums paid 100% for employees (must work 30+ hr./week) and 40% paid for dependents 1st of month after initial 30-day waiting period. Medical: PPO or EPO plans including vision coverage. See brochures for details. Rx card and vision plan included in coverage.
Dental: Self-insured plan: 100% for preventative up to $1650, 50% of $4,400 for other charges (max benefit of $2,200), per family per year.
Life: One times salary on full time employee.
Disability: After 60 days of disability, pays up to 66-2/3% of monthly salary.
Identity Fraud Expense: Any one loss, per employee $5,000 with no deductible.
Retirement
All employees eligible upon date of hire.
PERA: Public Employees’ Retirement Association provides benefits to District employees when they retire, become disabled, or to your family at your death. Serving as a substitute for Social Security, employees contribute 8% of monthly salary to their PERA account, and the District contributes 13.7%.
401(k)Plan: Pre-tax and Roth options are offered. Administered through PERA, employee has the option to contribute up to the maximum limits (under age 50), an additional catch up as permitted by 401(k) regulations (over age 50) of their salary (pre-tax) and the District will match up to 5% in contributions.
Paid Time Off
All full-time employees are provided the following paid time off provisions under specific circumstances. Part-time employees may be provided paid time off. See employee handbook. Advance approval may be required.
Vacation:
Vacation is accrued on a monthly basis. New hires accrue 6.67 hours per month, after four years of service 10 hours per month, after nine years 12 hours per month, and after fourteen years 13.33 hours per month. Accrual is limited to 240 hours (30 days) of vacation.
Sick Leave:
Sick leave accrues monthly at 8 hours per month and may accumulate up to 120 days. After ten years of service, sick leave will be paid upon employment separation (unless dismissed for cause) at the rate of one day for every two days accumulated.
Personal Leave:
Upon prior written approval, employee is allowed up to 6 days paid personal leave to attend to personal business that cannot be scheduled during non-working hours.
