WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Payroll and HR Specialist will lead the weekly, multi-state payroll run for We Ship Express and all its affiliated companies to ensure employees are paid timely and accurately. Additionally, the role will provide general support to the HR team, specifically with new hire onboarding and compliance related tasks. This is a full-time remote position.

Essential Functions

• Process weekly, multi-state payrolls for salaried and hourly employees for multiple entities, ensuring the overall accuracy of pay.
• Calculate and process timecard corrections, when needed.
• System record maintenance including auditing new hire setup, processing terminations, garnishments, and other required functions.
• Maintain expert knowledge on all federal and state specific employment laws, with a particular focus on wage and hour laws as well as internal company policy and procedure; apply knowledge to ensure compliance.
• Process stop payments, reversals, and replacements, as needed
• Coordinates and provides training of the timekeeping/payroll system
• Run reports as needed
• Support onboarding of new hires, executing and processing all electronic new hire paperwork
• Represent company through new hire onboarding process, providing a positive and welcoming experience to all new hires.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of direct payroll processing in a multi-state environment; experience supporting multiple entities strongly preferred
• Experience supporting new hire onboarding preferred
• Associates Degree, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience handling confidential and sensitive information in professional manner

Skills / Abilities

• High level of professionalism with respect to sensitive and confidential information; ability to maintain confidentiality
• Organized and process oriented with a laser focus on the details
• Ability to learn and maintain multiple systems, strong computer skills
• Friendly and personable with a welcoming demeanor; ability to communicate effectively with other employees at all levels of the organization
• Ability to multi-task and maintain composure and complete error-free work under pressure
