Western Colorado University invites applications for the position of Athletic Vehicle Manager/Driver.
Duties:
The Athletic Vehicle Manager/Driver will report to and work with the Director of Athletics to ensure stable and consistent operation of the University’s bus and van fleet for the safe and efficient transportation of student athletes to and from athletic events.
The Athletic Vehicle Manager/Driver is responsible for the recruitment, hiring and supervision of part-time drivers. This requires the maintenance of driver documentation including, but not limited to, CDL status, valid Driver’s License, traffic infraction information, driver log books, and maintenance requests/logs. The position will schedule all NCAA trips and will manage the intercollegiate transportation budget which includes the hiring of drivers, mileage/travel costs and contracting with charter companies, as needed. The position will ensure that drivers coordinate with teams to confirm details of travel itineraries and will assist the Director of Mountain Sports in scheduling trips, finding van drivers and assigning vehicles for this club sports program. The position will, as needed, drive university athletic teams to and from athletic events. The position will work with the university’s fleet manager to ensure the safe and proper functioning of the fleet through adoption of regular maintenance and cleaning schedules.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold, at a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree and a Commercial Driver’s License-Class B with a passenger bus endorsement (CDL-P). Minimum three (3) years professional driving experience and a proficient knowledge of highway and bus regulations and record-keeping standards and procedures. Candidates must have client service and public interaction skills and strong communication, problem solving skills and time management skills.

Compensation: This is a full-time, twelve month position with an initial salary range of $54,000 — $56,000.
