Field Generator Technician

Our Field Technicians service complex power systems. They are responsible for preventative maintenance, trouble-shooting, overhaul and on-site assistance in the operation of electrical Diesel driven power systems. Due to many customer interactions the candidate must provide excellent customer communications fostering positive relations. Great communication and organizational skills are required.

Specific Responsibilities

1) Working closely with the customer demanding a sense of urgency and professionalism for all services and interactions. This work includes installation assistance, start-up, preventative maintenance, servicing and on-site assistance in the correct operation of the power system.

2) Technicians perform 100% of all servicing requirements, or arranges for completion of balance. Demonstrates good judgment for laying out next steps for any type of service, repair or troubleshooting steps for Generator Controls, diesel engines and Natural Gas engines

3) List all necessary components and equipment for service assisting approved purchasing methods for customers account. Communicates closely with the customer and service coordinator regarding status of service.

4) Must exhibit extraordinary customer communication and relationship skills. Close daily relationship with customer requires a high level of customer satisfaction and perception of value per dollar cost. Company image is perceived primarily through contact with the customer and effectiveness of the service, troubleshooting or repair process.

5) Take responsibility for clerical needs, including timeliness and completeness of service reports.

6) Learn new maintenance requirements for new or existing electrical systems and applies new requirements to existing Maintenance Procedures.

7) Operate and maintain test equipment to high standards. Assures test equipment calibration requirements are maintained.

8) Put safety first! Must be familiar with safety procedures and safety equipment required for all working assignments.

Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Must be able to carry up to 80lbs
• Must have valid driver license (will drive company vehicle)
• Good mechanical and electrical aptitude
• Previous electrical experience strongly desired
• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or vocational school preferred
• Professional demeanor
• Willingness to learn
• Work with a sense of urgency
• Good customer communication skills
• Will have exposure to low and high voltage electrical equipment
• Will be exposed to moving machinery and equipment
• Availability to work rotating on call and fast response for 24/7 requirements for customers required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 – $44.00 per hour
