Position location is Salinas, CA or Santa Maria, CA – travel between both regions will be required
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Ensure company compliance with CA state employment laws, rules, regulations and best practices
· Manage offboarding process of employees at end of season and upon separation, providing notices and guidance to employees, proper preparation of final paychecks
· Effectively address employee concerns and questions concerning company policies and procedures
· Perform thorough employee complaint investigations, document the investigation, provide professional suggestions for remediation, work with employees in the corrective actions process according to company policy and as instructed by management
· Assist Safety Manager with paperwork surrounding Workers Compensation onsite injuries, record incident reports, report OSHA 300 logs, assist with managing claims from injury through recovery
· Manage company handbook policies and California employment law postings and handouts, general employment and agriculture specific
· Manage and document required trainings: Harassment, Safety, Heat Illness, Forklift, etc
· Manage the sick and PTO policies for all eligible employees
· Backup for the payroll function and weekly review wages for accuracy with overtime, double time, rest and recovery time, review for compliance with CA state employment law
· Oversee records management: employee registrations & onboarding, new hire paperwork, maintain employee personnel files
· Conduct performance management initiatives and provide useful feedback
· Perform internal I-9 audits, payroll & timekeeping audits, work comp audits, etc. Assist with audits or investigations involving DOL, DLSE, CALOSHA, Worker’s comp, 401k, and other internal, state or federal audits.
· Assist with social compliance and accountability audits and certifications
· Other tasks as associated with position and as requested by management
Position Requirements:
· 5+ years of California Human Resources
· Demonstrated knowledge of HR and payroll concepts specific to California Agriculture industry required
· Extremely organized individual with effective communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
· Strong self-structure with demonstrated ability to produce under minimal supervision
· Ability to travel frequently between Salinas and Santa Maria farming and office locations
· PHR-CA, SHRM California Employment Law Micro Credential preferred
· Famous software knowledge preferred
· Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required

Pay: $75,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
