Duties: 1.Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interest, and abilities of students.2.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.3.Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.4.Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.5.Assess the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.6.Diagnose the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialist as required.7.Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.8.Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.9.Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.10.Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.11.Attend staff meetings as required.12.Works days that students are in session. 13.Communicate with other teachers and if necessary principal regarding expectations for student work, behavior, and lesson execution. 14.Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all students.15.Ensure the teachers absence does not cause an interruption in classroom instruction.16.Gain familiarity with district curriculum and resources.17.Perform supervisory duties as assigned (such as lunch, bus, or recess duty).18.Abide by state statutes, school committee policies and regulations 19.Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by principal or their designee. 20.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.21.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.22.Report all suspicions of abuse and/or neglect to DCYF and the principal.23.Maintain confidentiality regarding students and staff personnel information24.Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the Department.25.Ability to be flexible with job assignments as needed 26.Remain current on instructional practices in education (e.g.
instructional technology) 27.Assumes responsibility for other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.Terms of Employment: Long term substitute assignment for 21 consecutive school days or more in the same assignment. This position may end abruptly based on the return of the appointed contracted teacher. Assignments may range from 21 consecutive school days to 180 consecutive school days. Interruption to the 21 consecutive days or more could adjust pay to the districts per diem substitute rate.
Interview required for appointment, at will position, nonunion position, benefits eligible, not eligible for overtime pay. FLSA Classification: Nonexempt. Position is subject to grant or federal funding.
