The Workforce Development Department is recruiting for Workforce Development Technicians who work directly with Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) participants to provide job search assistance, job referrals, and placement assistance to job seekers. Workforce Development Technicians will conduct initial client interviews/orientation; gather client information; create and maintain enrollment files; perform data entry, and disseminate general information, such as job and training opportunities.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must undergo a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting and a medical exam.
Travel: Travel throughout the County may be required; a valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available.
Candidates must meet ONE (1) Education AND ONE (1) Experience option to qualify.
EDUCATION: | OPTION 1:
Fifteen (15) semester or twenty-three (23) quarter units of completed coursework from an accredited college in human/behavioral/social science, public/business administration, education or a closely related field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application if a degree (as listed above) has not been conferred. |
OPTION 2:
Certificate of Completion from the SBC Career PathBuilder Program. Certification of Completion must be attached to application. |

EXPERIENCE: | OPTION 1:
Two (2) years of full time equivalent work experience performing clerical functions in an office environment. Duties must include a variety of office tasks including public contact, computer usage, typing, filing, answering phones, and data entry. |
OPTION 2:
One (1) year of full time experience determining eligibility for a government or organizational program; interpreting, applying, and explaining policies, regulations, or procedures to the public; interviewing and gathering financial, family, or personal information from the public over the phone or in-person. |

SUBSTITUTION: |
One (1) additional year of experience may substitute for required education. |
