WSSC Water Hiring for HR Assistant at Laurel, MD Full Time

Essential Functions

• Answers the telephone and directs calls to the appropriate person as well as takes and delivers messages
• Completes employment verification tasks and other employment related forms
• Responds to queries and procedural questions
• Monitors the office Outlook mailbox and faxes and ensures communications are delivered to the appropriate person in a timely manner
• Greets clients and customers, providing information and directs them appropriately
• Opens and sorts the mail and date/time stamps all incoming documentation
• Researches reasons for returned mail and handles appropriately
• Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of office supplies
• Receives invoices for office supplies in the P2P system
• Tracks PANS or other assigned forms received in the office
• Supports the closeout of recruitment files
• Supports new employee orientation and assists with new hire forms and processing
• Assists in the maintenance of the WSSC Water’s pay and classification schedule
• Provide administrative support for the PMAC process
• Performs general data entry into HRIS system
• Maintains job description files and ensures they are formatted correctly
• Coordinates the repair and maintenance of office equipment
• Maintains high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and information
• Maintains the file room including retention of employment records (e.g. Personnel Action Notifications, Form I-9, benefit information, etc.)
• Performs all tasks and job functions in compliance with regulatory requirements

Other Functions

• Assists with organizing HR events such as health & wellness events including open enrollment, holiday party and other employee related events
• Prepares letters and other general office communications, as requested
• Assists with the employee exit processes
• Other administrative duties and tasks, as assigned

Minimum Education, Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years administrative experience

The Human Resources Assistant is the front-line HR representative for all callers and visitors, and provides administrative support to Director and assigned team(s) within Human Resources.
