Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA Hiring for Transportation Specialist at Newnan, GA Full Time

The transportation specialist’s (TS) primary responsibilities are to: a) analyze and coordinate the movement of products, b) understand carrier’s capacity and c) know available resources for both domestic and international shipments. The TS is entrusted to make decisions on the proper mode of transportation and carrier selection (OTR = over the road, LTL = less than load, intermodal, Air, etc.) to ensure it is both cost effective and provides optimal service performance.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Ensure carrier selections provide: on-time service, optimal freight costs, and fosters partnerships.
• Provides communication to YMMC Logistics and Production Strategy team and the business on various topics (i.e. surge planning, volume expectations, yard impacts, carrier capacity, mode selection, and inbound transportation priorities).
• Collaborate with internal departments to optimize transportation services.
• Comply with transportation regulations and company policies.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on all Inbound track and trace and scheduling methodology.
• Identify challenges and present solutions to logistics/distribution team and carrier partners to resolve immediate and long-term transportation issues.
• Utilizes tracking and exception reporting to ensure shipments are executed according to plan and take action if delays, detention, YMS missed visibility occurs.
• Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required by the Logistics teams.
• Support manufacturing to achieve safety, productivity and quality targets through process design, optimization projects and Kaizen initiatives.

• Areas of concentration are/include:
• Schedule/Planning of LTL and Expedite freight movements
• Freight Movement building and plan execution via EDICT systems for FTL, and freight optimization for sufficient trailer utilization
• Reporting, coordination and tracking of scheduled/planned loads including all Freight Movements.
• Support to DC5 Returns – OB/IB Planning and scheduling and route coordination
• Schedule/Planning of FTL, STL, LTL, and freight consolidation multi-stop solutions
• Backup to FG Shipping Coordinator Roles at P1 & P2
• Backup to International functions via cross-training

Education And Experience

• High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) required.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills are required to navigate daily routines.
• Strong understanding of excel formulation of ability to maintain and navigate complex workbooks.
• Understanding of API, EDI and System Integration development on use of datasets required.

Work Environment
This position requires employee to frequently work in a fluid, fast paced environment. This dynamic environment will require working outside scheduled hours and weekends as required. No travel is required in this role.
